AFTER YOUR TANNING SESSION

1. DO NOT wear a watch, sunglasses or jewellery until you shower off the guide colour.

2. DO NOT touch your skin while the tan is developing otherwise you will have brown stained fingertips and palms while risking a streaky tan!

3. Avoid water on the skin while the tan is developing - wash hands carefully and minimally avoiding splashing the arms - perhaps use wipes instead. Take care not to get caught in the rain!

4. Avoid heavy exercise or any perspiration during development of the tan.

5. Do not wear closed in shoes, socks or long boots while the tan is developing as not only can they make the feet sweat but they can also rub off the tan. Sandals or flip flops are recommended.

6. SHOWER 6 to 8 hours afterwards. Let warm water run over you till it runs clear, then gently wash with a mild soap or shower gel. Do not use a sponge, flannel or scrunchie.

7. If there is not enough time to shower before going to bed, sleep in dark coloured bedding or in full pyjamas to prevent guide colour from rubbing off or marking light coloured bedding. The tan will wash out of cotton sheets but may stain silk or satin. It may be advisable to plan the changing of your bed sheets for the morning after your spay tan.

8. Pat yourself dry after every shower to avoid rubbing off the tan prematurely.

9. Take short showers rather than baths.

10. Shaving will have the same effect as exfoliating so avoid it for as long as possible.

11. Moisturise your body well after every shower to maximise the duration of the tan. Moisturise morning and night. Make sure you use a moisturiser that doesn't contain oils as these can strip off the tan.

12. Avoid swimming pools as the chlorine will strip the tan, as will saunas and steam rooms and swimming in the sea.

13. As your tan fades, you can lightly exfoliate dry, patchy areas to even it out.

14. You can top up your tan in any areas that fade quicker due to regular cleansing (e.g. hands and face) using the Nouvatan 'Tan In A Can', a non-aerosol mist or the Nouvatan Mousse available to purchase from the Seventh Heaven Salon.

15. The spray tan does not contain any SPF (sun protection factor) so make sure you wear sun protection cream as usual.
