What exactly is Minx?

Minx is a new alternative to nail polish. It is a healthy application with no chemicals, no toxins and no drying time. Made of flexible film, Minx finally gives women completely customized nails that can feature the pattern and colours of their newest dress, their favourite shoes, or the season’s hottest designs. Sparkly metallics, intricate graphics and photo-quality designs make up the Minx Nails portfolio. Minx Nails don't smudge or chip. Immediately after applying Minx at my Poole salon you can dive into your bag for your car keys without any chance of ruining the perfect manicure. It seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? How many times have you left a salon after having a manicure only to return two minutes later with a sheepish look and a smudged finger?

Hailing from sunny California (where else?), Minx Nails are a solid film with an adhesive back that is applied under an infrared heat lamp. The heat activates the adhesive allowing the Minx film to fit on any nail size and shape. Minx does not damage natural nails. Minx allows you to achieve a finish that you just can’t get with nail polish – a true high shine chrome, for example, and very intricate patterns. Minx Nails are perfect for pedicures because it lasts for ages on toes. With no drying time it’s ideal for winter pedicures as you can put your shoes straight back on. You never have to leave my salon in Poole in flip flops with frozen toes again!

If Minx is applied and removed with heat can I go into a hot bath or shower wearing Minx Nails?
Yes, Minx has a waterproof seal that will not release until the seal is broken by lifting the edge with a fingernail or tweezers.



Do I need to come back to the salon to remove Minx Nails?

No, if you want to remove your Minx Nails at home you can use warm water or a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and then pick at a corner to break the seal. You then simply peel Minx off. Minx Nails are a‘green’ product that don’t use chemicals for application or removal. Just a little heat and some gentle peeling takes Minx Nails right off. If you want to come back to my Poole salon to have new Minx Nails applied I do not charge to remove the old Minx first.

How long do Minx Nails last?

It depends how well you look after your nails and how quick they grow, just like a normal manicure or pedicure, however, it will last significantly longer on toenails than fingernails. Minx on fingernails is the perfect accessory for a special occasion outfit and at my Poole salon I recommend that Minx Nails are applied to fingernails as close as possible to the actual event as they may start to wear on the tips after a couple of days. Minx does not chip, it may wear slightly at the free edge of fingernails that are heavily used but will not wear any further. Take care with Minx Nails in shoes without tights or socks as tight fitting shoes or ballet pumps might cause the Minx to wrinkle. Make sure you don’t pick at Minx around the edges. Rather than lift any edges, press down on them to seal them back to the nail. At my Poole salon I recommend wearing gloves when gardening or undertaking other activities that involve abrasive products. If you do experience lifting at the edges try putting your hands in warm water then applying pressure to re-adhere Minx to the nail.

Can I have Minx applied on acrylics, gels, silk wraps or natural nails?
You can apply Minx on all nails whether natural or artificial.

How long does it take to dry?
Minx requires no drying time. When it has been applied you may leave my Poole salon immediately. Because Minx is a dry coating, there can be no accidental smudging.
